Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Friendly ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our service, on the web (cam-connect.net) or our iOS/Android app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. When you sign in with Telegram, we receive your Telegram ID, username, and profile photo — verified directly with Telegram, never your Telegram password. When you sign up with email and password, we store your email and a securely hashed password.
- Profile information: Display name, real name, birth date, gender, bio, country/city, languages, interests, and any photos, voice intros, or video intros you upload.
- Messages: Text, photos, videos, and voice messages you send in direct messages or group rooms.
- Camera and microphone: If you grant permission, we access your camera to take profile photos, record video intros, or scan QR codes, and your microphone to record voice messages, voice intros, or make voice/video calls with other users. Voice/video calls between users are peer-to-peer and are not recorded or stored by us.
- Precise location (opt-in): If you turn on location sharing with family or friends, we collect your live GPS coordinates to show your position to the specific people you've shared with, alert you when a shared contact is nearby, and power venue "check-ins" you post. Location sharing is off by default and fully within your control — you can stop sharing at any time in the app.
- Identity verification photo: If you choose to verify your profile, you take a selfie that is uploaded to a private, access-restricted storage area for manual review. It is used only to confirm your profile photos are genuinely you and is not shown to other users.
- Marketplace data: Listings you create, and, if you're selling, an image of your payment QR code (KHQR) that you choose to upload so buyers can pay you directly — we never process or see the underlying payment.
- Device and security information: A device fingerprint used to detect logins from unrecognized devices, and a push-notification token so we can deliver alerts to your device.
- Usage data: Basic interaction events (such as signing up or sending a first message) used to understand how the App is used.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the App's core features — profiles, discovery/matching, messaging, marketplace, rooms, and family/friend location sharing.
- Display your profile to other users for social connection purposes, respecting your privacy settings.
- Detect and alert you to suspicious logins from unrecognized devices.
- Improve and personalize your experience.
- Communicate with you about your account or the service, including push notifications you can control in Settings.
- Ensure safety, review reports, and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Signing In
You can create an account using Google, Telegram, or a plain email and password. When you use Google or Telegram to sign in, we only request the minimum information needed for authentication and profile setup (your name/username and profile photo) — we never post on your behalf, message your contacts, or access anything beyond that basic profile information.
4. Third-Party Services We Use
Friendly is built on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers, who process data strictly on our behalf to run the service:
- Supabase: our database, authentication, and file storage provider — this is where your account, profile, messages, and uploaded media are stored.
- Cloudflare: hosts the web app and its backend functions.
- Telegram: only if you choose to sign in with Telegram, to verify your identity with them.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: powers place search and map display for check-ins and location features (no account or tracking involved).
- Giphy: powers GIF search if you choose to send a GIF in a chat.
- Expo: delivers push notifications and hosts our mobile app builds.
None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes — they process it only to help us run the App.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and hosted on the infrastructure providers listed above. Sensitive uploads — like verification selfies — are kept in access-restricted storage that only our moderation process can read, never other users.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- With other users: Your profile, posts, and messages are visible to other App users as part of the App's social features, subject to your privacy settings.
- With people you choose to share location with: only the specific family/friend connections you approve can see your live location, and only while sharing is active.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.
- Safety: To investigate reports and protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through your profile settings.
- Update or correct your information at any time.
- Control location sharing, read receipts, and privacy visibility settings individually, at any time.
- Delete your account and associated data through the App settings.
- Withdraw consent for data processing by discontinuing use of the App.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, messages, and uploaded media are permanently removed. Live location data is only ever stored as your most recent position while sharing is active, and stops being collected the moment you turn sharing off.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we become aware of such collection, we will promptly delete the data.
10. Cookies and Local Storage
The web app uses local storage and session data for authentication and functionality (such as remembering your language preference). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your data rights, please contact us through the Help & Support section in the App.
